Employment in the context of SmartProduction
A puppeteer has developed a children’s play that he regularly performs in various schools and day care centers throughout Austria. He has already agreed upon a number of performances over the next 3 months. However he also wants to be employed throughout this time, so he entrusts Smart Production with the production of the performance series. Smart sets up an agreement with its clients, i.e. the schools and day care centers, overseeing all planned performances. For the duration of the series of performances, the puppeteer is employed by Smart and as an employee, offers his services to the schools and day care centers. Smart then issues the invoice to the clients and manages the receiving of payments. With the income generated by the performances, the puppeteer receives a monthly salary and compensation for operating expenses (eg. mileage allowance, daily allowance, costs of materials, …)
Self-employment in the context of SmartProduction
A freelance artist has various art projects with different clients. She mostly works alone, but has co-workers who are occasionally involved in her projects. These projects nearly always involve expenses. As self-employed artist she is insured by the SVA (Social insurance for self-employed) and can also receive subsidies from the KSVF (social security fund for artists) and therefore wants to continue to work on a freelance basis. However she feels increasingly overwhelmed by the administrative and financial organization of her projects.
SmartProduction offers her the following advantages:
Entrusting Smart with the production of her projects, she no longer has to send out any invoices or worry herself about collecting payments after performances. Smart pays her fee, the fees of her co-workers and all expenses related to her projects from the proceeds of her contracts. She additionally, is able at all times, to keep track of her revenue and expenses. She furthermore receives all necessary information for her tax return at the end of the year and also for the KSVF if needed. Assured additionally is receipt of payment, regardless as to whether the client has paid or not.
Project management in the context of SmartProduction
A music band consisting of 3 members, decides to work with Smart for the production of their Austrian tour. Smart communicates with the organizers of the shows, settles agreements, issues invoices after the concerts and collects the fees on behalf of the artists. From the money received, all expenses concerning the tour are paid including the musicians’ fees (with the option of being paid in form of a salary, should the musicians prefer employment). The band receives a statement of all revenue and expenses at the end of the tour. Once again the musicians benefit by being assured of timely payment.
