Uncategorized @en - 10/01/2020 - Xenia Kopf

Due to the Corona virus we have to cancel this event until further notice. We hope to be able to reschedule and we’ll post the new date here.

We’re visiting Kunstuni in Linz! Learn everything about Smart and how our members and users profit from our coop. In an open Q&A, we’ll happily answer questions about your specific case and we’ll find out if Smart can provide a viable, community-backed roof for your freelancing activities.*

* Note: This workshop will be held in German, but we’re happy to answer your questions in English.

In the series skills for art

Smart is a solidarity economy cooperative, non-profit oriented cooperative for freelancers, creatives and artists – not limited to any specific branch.
Smart shares entrepreneurial resources and risks to establish sustainable working conditions together.
Smart facilitates regular employment for people struggling with complex, short-term and changing work conditions, or helps restructuring their self-employment in a sustainable manner.
Smart takes on the greater part of administrative work, thus facilitating:
— Full integration in the social security system
— More freedom for their core work activities
— Protection in major risk areas
— Long term planning security
Smart creates a network of communities sharing knowledge and skills.

Smart is rooted in the independent arts and culture sectors. Founded in 1998 in Belgium (Smart = société mutuelle pour artistes), Smart has rapidly succeeded in winning a broad target audience.
Smart Austria was initiated in 2011 in the vicinity of the Association of Independent Theatre, but soon moved beyond the theatre branch.
In 2015, the SMartAt coop was founded. This legal form was selected on purpose to allow democratic participation and thus create a new form of work.
